Fingerpicking is a method of playing the guitar. Rather than strumming with a pick as most people are so used to seeing, fingerpicking relies completely on the bare fingers of a hand to play the music. The fingers are used directly on the strings and it creates a very light and unusual sound. In most cases fingerpicking guitarists play jazz or blues music.

For anyone who’s interested in getting started with fingerpicking guitar lessons, there are a few options they have to choose from. The first would be to get signed up for a local music class or group in your area where they were offering fingerpicking guitar lessons.

This allows you to work with an experienced guitarist to master the fingerpicking method of play but also get the chance to meet with fellow music lovers. The added convenience of this is that you get to learn right from the comfort of your own home which is a big stress reliever for most people.

You could also use the Internet to get your lessons. Taking an online class or course is a great idea, especially if you’re someone who rarely has any free time. This way instead of having to base your schedule around your fingerpicking guitar lessons you can do it the other way around and complete your lessons when you have the time for it. This means less hassle and more ease for you.

Planet Of Rock, Jam Play and Guitar Super Star are all perfect examples of different online companies you can go through if you want to get fingerpicking guitar lessons. Then there are also books and CDs that are available and which will teach you everything you need to know about fingerpicking.

There are also software programs that offer fingerpicking guitar lessons and these allow you to work at your own pace, without feeling embarrassed if you’re lagging behind or frustrated because you’re learning quicker than others.

You may have given this a lot of thought, but in the end you have decided: you want to learn electric guitar. However, you should note there are many things you should consider before starting the actual learning process. Whether you want to turn this into a job or hobby, it will take you a lot of time and energy to be able to truly enjoy it.

The main thing you need to decide for yourself is how you want to approach it, as guitar lessons can be really expensive. Besides this, electric guitar lessons also will be very demanding of your time.

While wasting precious time is something that may not bother others, you may not feel that you have all the time in the world to learn electric guitar. A good solution for you may be to buy a learn electric guitar DVD, which will allow you to learn whenever you want, using your own pace and in the privacy of your home. Because of its obvious advantages, this is a solution that appeals to many people.

Those Who Need Extra-Motivation
For many others, however, simply watching something on their TV or computer may not be enough to actually learn electric guitar. Some people who want to learn electric guitar may need that extra push from a private teacher, so they can enroll for courses. Community centers and music stores are usually good places to find professionals willing to give guitar lessons to eager students.

Another method that is widely used is advertising through newspapers or online classifieds. Just check out the ads and you will surely find someone who will come to your home and help you learn electric guitar starting with the basics: how to hold the instrument, where to place your fingers and hands, and so on.

Learn to Play Electric Guitar HERE!

Obviously this will cost you a little, so you need to be prepared. If you truly want to learn electric guitar, you will not achieve it over a single lesson, so you need to brace yourself for spending lots of time, effort and money before seeing any results. In the end, however, you will be very happy with your way of playing, especially if this has been a life-long dream. You may not become an accomplished guitarist, but you may still impress your friends and family, and why not, even yourself!

If you wish to learn guitar, you need to understand this is not a skill one learns in a day. Not everybody can just pick up a guitar, or any instrument they like, and simply learn to play it by ear. There are very few people who can actually play the guitar very well without taking the time to learn guitar chords.

Learning guitar demands years of practice as well as understanding how the instrument works, how to use your fingers and hands, and how to put everything together to create the music. Very often when you hear a master of the guitar, it may seems to you as if sounds just flow from the instrument and the fingers dance over the guitar strings.

This, however, can only be achieved with lots and lots of practice — as you know, practice makes perfect. If you’re just starting to learn guitar, your effort is very much similar to the one a baby makes when trying to walk for the first time.

How to Hold the Guitar
If you want to learn guitar, you will need to start by holding the instrument correctly. First, the instrument must be placed under your right arm crook so that your hand covers the hole where the strings are found. Obviously, if you’re left-handed you will need to do things the other way around.

The next step is to put your left hand along the fret. You need to make sure all your fingers can easily access the strings along the fret, so you should hold the guitar in such a way that your left thumb is placed along the fret bar. Once there, you must practice strumming the guitar. Don’t learn guitar chords or notes yet, just get comfortable holding the instrument and playing it.

How to Tune the Guitar
One of the crucial factors when learning guitar is tuning the instrument. If your guitar is playing every single note like it’s supposed to, then the instrument is tuned correctly. If it is not tuned then notes will sound wrong and your performance will suffer a great deal.

The sound will not resemble anything you want and you will probably give up because of frustration, maybe thinking that you are to blame for not doing things right. It’s not your fault, you simply need to tune the instrument. You can tune your guitar by ear, or you can do what many do, and that is buying an electric tuner which will automatically detect if your instrument is tuned. Simply strumming each string and then adjusting your guitar will help you put everything in the right position.

That’s it, now you can start learning the actual chords, notes, and music. Make sure that you learn the basics though, as even the slightest bad habit can make it difficult to progress your guitar learning and impede you from making the best of it.
