No matter which method you would like to use to learn bass guitar, here are several tips you will surely find helpful.

Useful Tips
First of all, before even holding the instrument, you need to understand what posture to adopt and how to place your arms, hands and fingers. You should start by extending your right arm straight out, parallel to the soil, and then relax all your muscles. Look at your hand and make a note of the position of your fingers.

This is actually the way you have to keep your fingers whenever you are trying to hold the instrument.

While keeping your forearm parallel to the soil, you need to bring your hand near to a table or another flat surface. Then try bringing your index finger and middle finger together on that surface, in such a way that only your fingertips touch it.

You can now make your next move and that is to actually try holding the instrument. Your right thumb needs to go on the E string of the bass guitar, somewhere in the middle between the fingerboard end and the pickups.

These are only a few simple tips to get you familiar with holding the guitar. If your goal is to become a professional bass guitar player, you will have to practice as much as possible, whenever and wherever you can. The longer and more often you practice, the better your bass guitar playing skills will be. Before you know, you will make a fine bass player like you always wanted. So take all the time you have available and practice, practice, practice all you can!
